OCTOBER 21, 2017: MEETING INFORMATION
President, Susan Owen, thanks to all the Club members who placed pieces in the Tulsa State Fair.
We had a wonderful representation and the list of winners is attached for your review. Susan Owen asks that each member that displayed pieces at the Tulsa State Fair, take a picture of your piece with your ribbon along side and
email to Sarah Gomez, sarah.ann.gomez.1989@gmail.com,
with a copy to Susan Owen, sl_owen@sbcglobal.net.
Saturday, October 21, 2017 is the next meeting of the Eastern Oklahoma Porcelain Teachers Club meeting. As you walk into the Library, check out the beautiful display of hand painted porcelain from Club members.
Fredda Bruner will be demonstrating "pen work with sugar water". It will dry quickly and immediately you will be able to paint over the pen work design. So bring along your regular pallet and supplies to finish the piece.
BRING THE FOLLOWING ITEMS TO CLASS to paint:
* small piece of porcelain (i.e., box, cup and saucer, coffee mug, small plate, small bowl, etc.)pen point (fine pen nib)
*(make sure it is cleaned with alcohol and free of oil)vial of dry paint (your choice of colors)
*small container of water...will not need much
*Small amount of very fine sugarTile to mix your sugar/water mixture
Fredda's suggested subject is Butterflies on a small piece of porcelain such as a box, cup and saucer, mug, small plate or dish, etc.
I have attached a sample of line drawings and colored pictures of butterflies, which are in the "pdf" for printing.
Below are a few colored pictures of Oklahoma Butterflies, which I found on the following website: https://dengarden.com/gardening/Butterflies-of-Oklahoma-15-Beautiful-Specimens-And-How-To-Attract-Them
Just look at those glorious colors. Also, just in case Butterflies are not your thing, below are Dragonflies, which I copied from Pinterest. Look at those colors.
Pen work is just the thing to make the Butterflies and Dragonflies come alive. Also, these could end up in the 2018 Tulsa State Fair...not too soon to begin those porcelain pieces.
